Nottingham Youth Orchestra in collaboration with Music for Everyone and local school choirs
Details About the Event
Nottingham Youth Orchestra and Music for Everyone are collaborating with a performance in celebration on Benjamin Britten's Centenary on Friday 22 November 2013 at 7pm in Nottingham's Albert Hall. The programme will feature Britten's Fanfare for St Edmundsury & the Courtly Dances from Gloriana. The concert will also highlight Purcell's influence with his Chaconne & the theme from Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra.
The concert will also be the first public appearance of the new East Midlands Youth Voices, a new specialist chamber choir in the region for talented 14-24 year olds who wish to explore and perform exciting choral repertoire to a very high standard. They will sing music by Purcell and Britten's Hymn to the Virgin.
The concert will culminate with a performance of 'Friday Afternoons' with singers from across Nottingham's schools and local youth choirs, accompanied by the Nottingham Youth Orchestra.
The evening will be conducted by Mike Palin, Alex Patterson & Steven Henderson.
