Jason Yarde

Yarde has cast a wide musical net, working with Herme, Pascoal and 4hero, Plan B and Britten Sinfonia, and Keziah Jones and the Kronos Quartet. His own projects range from solo works, to his ten-piece ACOUTASTiC BOMBASTiC. Awards include a Civitella Ranieri Fellowship and a prestigious Paul Hamlyn Award for Composers.

His flugelhorn concerto, All Souls Seek Joy premiered in 2007 with Hugh Masekela and the London Symphony Orchestra, his BBC Proms compositional début, Rhythm and Other Fascinations won the inaugural BASCA award for contemporary Jazz Composition in 2009 and Wonderbrass’ Skip, Dash, Flow formed part of the PRSF’s New Music 20x12, Cultural Olympiad project.

2013 saw major premieres with the McCormack & Yarde Duo performing alongside the LSO in Modo Hit Blow, and almost 100 participants taking over the RFH foyer in Bold as Brass.

Released in 2014, Juntos, his third album with pianist McCormack, features the Elysian Quartet.
