We’re pleased to announce the relaunch of the Friday Afternoons website today: Benjamin Britten’s Birthday, St Cecilia’s Day and six years after the inaugural Friday Afternoons event.
Our website has been refreshed to reflect our new mission for the project: to develop the skills of teachers to confidently lead singing in the classroom, and to encourage young people to connect with contemporary classical repertoire, creating challenging and exciting music making experiences for all. This helps us toward achieving our vision for every young person to have access to high quality musical experiences through using their voice.
The changes we’ve made respond to feedback gathered in an evaluation of the project in 2018. The findings of the evaluation can be read in our Headlines report.
On our website, you can now find:
Songs: our collection of over 70 songs, now with useful filters to help you find what you’re looking for by theme or structure
Resources: a new section containing support videos, worksheets and exercises to help you develop your delivery skills, alongside case studies of other people's projects
Events: opportunities for you to engage with Friday Afternoons in your area
We continue our commitment to accessibility, and are working to ensure all our new songs and resources are relevant for young people around the world.
