Scunthorpe Co-Operative Junior Choir to premiere this year's Friday Afternoons songs

1 April 2022

We are excited to announce that this year's set of Friday Afternoons songs will be premiered and recorded by Scunthorpe Co-operative Junior Choir in July. The new set, composed Joanna Lee and Andy Shepherd will be released in the Summer.

The choir have been rehearsing the songs since January and this weekend receive visits from Joanna Lee, composer, and Friday Afternoons Ambassador Charles MacDougall.

Daniel Fields, the choir's Musical Director says:

"Scunthorpe Co-operative Junior Choir (SCJC) are absolutely delighted to have been asked to record and perform this year's Friday Afternoons commissions by Joanna Lee and Andy Shepherd. As an open access youth choir training young people from 3 to 19 we were delighted to find that the scores allowed for all members in the organisation to participate in this most exciting project. SCJC continues to 'bounce back' following the COVID-19 pandemic and the invitation to work with Britten Pears Arts and the Friday Afternoons project again has really accelerated our growth organisationally and musically. We look forward with anticipation to bringing you all this year's recordings and giving the premieres in July."
