Little Britten

Details About the Event

The Cambridgeshire Music Singing Team is constantly looking for ways to develop singing strategies within the county and to create new opportunities for people to come together and sing. With ‘Little Britten’ we have a fantastic chance to bring children together, from all over the county, not only to sing, but also to explore music from one of the most exciting, culturally relevant and important composers of the 20th-century. The Little Britten Project is an unmissable opportunity for children to perform in a large scale singing event at a fantastic concert venue, singing compositions from one of the country’s best-loved and most prolific composers. The repertoire for this concert will include works from the Friday Afternoons Project (2013/2014), The Bird Song (Nico Muhly 2015), and pieces from Britten’s extensive catalogue written specifically for children’s voices. Students will have the opportunity to learn some of his most well-known pieces with their own music teacher / choir leader and then share this with singers from across the region in a joint choral performance at the Corn Exchange on Monday 9th November, 2-3pm. We are very grateful to the Friday Afternoons Project for supporting this concert.
