St Andrew's Primary School, Bath
Details About the Event
The whole school - 170 pupils from Nursery to Year 6 - will come together to perform two musical works.
Benjamin Britten's set of songs 'Friday Afternoons' will be conducted by Shean Bowers, Bath Abbey's Assistant Director of Music and Choral Director for Schools and accompanied by Dr Peter King, as part of the Bath Abbey Schools Singing Programme.
The school will also perform the world premiere of 'A Living Tree', a new song composed collaboratively by song-writer Will Gregory (Goldfrapp) and the St Andrew's pupils. This special performance will feature every child playing a musical instrument.
The Abbey will host an exhibition of written and creative work done by St Andrew's School pupils this term. The children have used 'Friday Afternoons' as inspiration for a cross-curricular project called 'Take One Song' which has shaped their learning in all areas of the curriculum.
