Kingfisher Chorale
Details About the Event
Kingfisher Chorale, directed by Giles Turner and David Fisher, perform a Britten programme on Britten's 100th Birthday: Hymn to the Virgin, Hymn to St Cecilia , Friday Afternoons , Rejoice in the Lamb , Canticle II "Abraham and Isaac" , The Ballad of Little Musgrave and Lady Barnard , Te Deum and Jubilate in C.
From one of the conductors: “This concert marks the Britten 100 celebrations reflecting my life-long admiration which existed before and after Britten’s kindness to me. As a teenager, I dedicated a piece for bass, oboe solo, and string quartet to ‘Benjamin Britten in admiration’ as he was my greatest influence as a composer. After the piece was sent to Britten, I was invited to Aldeburgh to meet Britten and Pears and I also attended a performance of Turn of the Screw at Snape Maltings before going backstage to meet the rest of the performers.”
Repeated 23rd November in Eye, Suffolk.
