We're pleased and delighted today to launch our first new song of 2019: the traditional Pleasant and Delightful, arranged by Paul Sartin.
This song was arranged from field recordings made at the Snape Crown and Blaxhall Ship Inn, near Snape Maltings, by Neil Lanham of the traditional singer Jumbo Brightwell.
All the resources you need to sing this song are now available from our Song Bank. We're so excited to launch this song and can't wait to hear it performed by young people around the country!
The premiere of this song took place on Monday 4 March at Snape Maltings Concert Hall, as part of the week-long Celebration festival. The brilliant 90-strong Hadleigh Primary School choir performed the first performance on the main concert hall stage with their fantastic teachers Mrs Rankin and Mrs Broadbent, to a packed audience of 800 people.
Support for this premiere was given by Tom Appleton from the Come and Sing Company. Our thanks to all those involved in a spectacular first performance.
The resources available for this song include brilliant recordings and backing tracks, designed to support teachers and young people around the country to learn and perform them. Enormous thanks to our excellent performers, and to Mike Challis who created the recordings.
The performance track was recorded by Farnham Youth Choirs - Junior Choir, conducted by Patrick Barrett and accompanied by Anthony Merryweather.
The backing track was recorded by Nathan Williamson in Benjamin Britten's Library at the Red House in Aldeburgh, thanks to the Britten-Pears Foundation.
